Up for bids is a large black velvet CDV frame with cut silk flowers, embrodiery and gold roping on the outside edging as well as the photo enclosure. The frame measures 14 1/2" by 12 1/2" wide. I believe that this is a "MOURNING FRAME" and a civil war soldiers photo was probably in it long ago. The photo opening is 4 1/2" by 6 1/2" but the inside pocket that holds the photo is larger. I have displayed a soldiers CDV as well as a larger 1900's womans photo for scale. Photos not included unless interested and then we can talk. The condition of the frame is good condering the age. The velvet is rubbed and the flowers are fragile but stable. Really an historic show piece that displays old civil war photos, ambrotypes, tintypes and of course CDV's nicely.Thanks so much for bidding and please visit my other listings for more unique, interesting and unusual quality items from the past.
