WONDERFUL Civil War era pieced Indigo Blue & White GRAPHIC/STRIPED quilt. NO RESERVE. This is photographed on a KING-size bed. Due to its age of over 100 years, this is truly a rare antique piece of Americana. I love this quilt and, as you'll see if you look closely, it was abused before I got it. Over 100 years old when I first saved it from a "cutter" pile at an antique shop more than 10 years ago, I just couldn't see cutting into this one. It is so sweet. The indigo fabric is covered with little tiny stars. And the fabric has aged beautifully... its got that wonderfully aged patina, that super-soft silky cotton feel that you just don't get with new fabrics. Sigh, I love this one. Please don't buy it to cut it up, please? I had it on a bed at my cabin, but now the cabin is gone and I need to find new homes for so many things. Anyway the quilting on this is lovely, too. The batting is thin and even. The pieces were hand sewn together, then the top and white back were hand quilted together, very evenly at least 8-10 stitches to the inch (counting only the visible thread on one side). The density of the quilting on this beauty is amazing - using straight quilting lines, an overall crossed-diamonds pattern forms with areas of less than 1/2" left unquilted.
