Beautiful Civil War Era Photo Album with 36 CDV Photos. Some CDVs were removed before I purchased this album and the visible backs of photos are all from photographers in Philadelphia (Rhoads Photographer, 1800 Franklin Ave.; A.J. Morat, S.E. cor. Eighth & Arch Streets; Suppards & Fennemore, No. 820 Arch Street) and in Chester, PA (Birth, Photographer, James Street, "A few doors bel. the Bank"). I did not remove any other photos to look at the backs because I did not want to damage the pages.
Measurements of Album are 6 X 5 1/4 and 2 1/4" wide. T are no Soldier Pictures. Written on the first album page is: "Ma, Imogene Chandler, Mrs. Alfred Kennard Gregory" in what looks like blue ballpoint pen. Condition issues: Pages are separated from the binding but still attached together (see picture 5). The album could be glued back together, but I'll leave that up to the buyer. None of the pages are loose from the book. T is a great deal of foxing and staining on the album pages, mostly on the album but some on the photos which are otherwise sepia-toned and clear. T is some tearing on a few of the pages w the pictures were removed, but no missing pages. T are three empty pages in the back of the album. One of the metal catches (which are made to look like ribbons) is missing its decorative buckle and the other is missing the tiny metal knob on the book. It will close securely with one catch. The edges of the book are worn due to age but the edges of the pages are still gold and fairly bright considering how old this album is and how many hands it's most likely passed through.
