Civil War era leather sword hanger. It is made up of a solid brass hanger with two leather straps. The longer of the two leather straps measures about 13 ¾ inches long; the other strap measures about 8 ¼ inches long. The leather is very supple. Attached to the end of each strap is a solid brass clip measuring 2 3/8 inches long with a swivel on the end. Two brass studs are inserted through slits in the leather to hold the swivel clips to the ends of the leather straps. The leather is stamped "SGL" by one of the brass studs.
