This is a Civil War era fancy medicine bottle from a private commercial dig at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The Navy Yard has a great history dating back to the revolution and was decommissioned in 1966 and sold to private commercial interests. It is no longer government property and digs were once conducted at owners permission. Bottle is clear and measures 4 3/4 inches tall. Appears to be blown in mold with a faint closed pontil circle on the base that was probably made while finishing the lip. Tombstone shaped label area. Some ground staining. Minor chip on outside lip.
