TINTYPE OF UNION GENERAL JOHN WHITE GEARY - A POSSIBLE UNKNOWN VARIANT IMAGE FROM LIFE? AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ORIGINALLY AS FOUND SIXTEENTH PLATE (1/16th PLATE) TINTYPE OF INFAMOUS CIVIL WAR UNION GENERAL JOHN WHITE GEARY - POSSIBLY UNPUBLISHED! This dainty little tintype was found in this tiny little half case, matte and preserver. The preserver is separated / broken at two corners (from bending of the stiff preserver, but still fits nicely around the image as you can plainly see). This is not a big issue. But this tiny image is possibly a very big image find! What we have here, at least from what can be found on Google Images is that apparently this tintype image was taken at the same sitting as that of the paper photograph that we show in comparison below. It is the same angle mind you, but the various nuances of the change in jacket shape are evident and the position of the epaulets and buttons are strikingly different between the two images. Also, the eyes of UNION GENERAL JOHN WHITE GEARY are much more penetrating than those found in the accompanying comparison photo we found on Google Images. Also, the collar of the jackets are both different. And so is the positioning of the beard. The only thing similar is the angle the images were taken from.
