Rare CIVIL WAR General Matthew M. Trumbull CDV PHOTO Union SIGNED inscribed Iowa NO RESERVE!Fresh from an estate and offered for auction is this Civil War era CDV photo of Union Soldier Brev. Brigadeer General, Matthew M. Trumbull. Trumbull was also an attorney and a personal friend of Grant who appointed him Collector of Internal Revenue for Iowa after the war, a position he held for 12 years. Later in life he was a well respected author on subjects such as sociology, theology and reform topics. His book "Free Trade in England" was a standard authority on that subject. Trumbull has signed this CDV in ink on the front and it is hallmarked by the photo studio on the back. Dimensions are just under 2.5" wide x 4" tall. I would consider the condition as good as shown in the photos, but old photos are not my area of expertise. Email questions are welcome and I will answer them as best I can.
