Offered for your consideration in a Five Day NO RESERVE AUCTION, a Confederate letter with cover from T. Herbert Williams, 4th South Carolina Infantry Co. I, to a young lady in Clayton's Mill, SC, dated June 25th, 1862. Written on captured Yankee patriotic stationary impressed w/ McClellan image. A super four page letter with battle content covering "Seven Pines". Four nicely written pages each measuring apx. 4 7/8" x 7 7/8", with red and blue edging to paper. Cover measures apx. 4 3/4" x 2 1/4", green CSA #1 with a Richmond cancel, at some recent date, someone has written in ballpoint pen, the date "June 25, 1862". This letter part of a recent cache actually found in a local attic. Richmond Virginia June 25th, 1862Dear Naomi; I was the happy recipient of a very kind and polite letter from you some weeks ago- the perusal of which gave me pleasure bordering upon rapture. i am always glad to hear from you and I hope circumstances will allow a more rapid correspondence between us hearafter. I owe you an apology now for having deferred answering you until so late a day.
