is an amazing , Genuine Civil War Letter by Robert McGibbon, who served alongside John W Pitridge,from U.S. Army Co. H. 5th Regiment Vermont Volunteer Infantry. This letter is written to friends at home in Brandon parents on Oct 10, 1863. It is 1 sheet, folded in half ,with writing on 4 sides. .. Camp Brandy Station Oct 23 rd 63 Dear Friends I take much pleasure in answering your kind and welcome letter and happy to hear that you w all well and feeling well as it leaves me and the rest off the boys at preasant and happy to say that I have some encourageing news as well as some discourageing but well pleased to think the latter did not fall on any belonging to any of us. Well the fatal crime was the Vermont Brigade was called out into the field and formed a hollow for the purpose of seeing two men shot to Death by musketry for desertion. They were shot on the 18 th .
