You are bidding on an original Civil War Model 1840 Cavalry saber "wristbreaker" that is unmarked by the manufacturer. This saber / sword includes the scabbard. Both saber and scabbard are in excellent condition. The saber measures about 41 inches in overall length with the blade being 35 inches long. The blade is 1 1/4 inches wide at its widest point. The scabbard is 38 inches long and does not have any dents. Both the saber and scabbard show signs of age, but the saber has NO dings or nicks along the blade edge. T are no maker marks anyw on the saber or scabbard. The handle of the saber does rattle a little bit. The blade has an overall bright patina with some dark areas along the blade, but no pitting. The brass wire wrap on the handle is all t and the leather under the brass wire is in great condition. The brass guard is in excellent condition with some wear and use marks.This is an excellent opportunity to own an great condition model 1840 Civil War Cavalry saber.
