Civil War Non Regulation Officer's Sword Collin & Co 1862 The plain 31" blade about mint. Marked Collins & Co Hartford Conn 1862. All iron hilt with two outboard branches and pierced with a small inboard branch. Hilt overall smooth and gray with absolutely no rust or pitting. Stepped pommel, backstrap terminates with decorative fluted 1/2" iron ferrule at the base of the grip. Entire hilt with incised lines round the edges. The sharkskin grip perfect as is the triple wire wrap, center is spring like wire. Steel scabbard excellent retaining 100% of a beautifully done rebrowned finish, just a couple of very minor dents near the iron drag, stepped throat, double ring mounts. Where-as the the scabbard appears to be the correct type, the hilt fits against the throat at a barely detectable angle, but it is our opinion that the scabbard, although correct and period has been married to the sword. Grade: 0, Service No.: 0
