Featured in this auction isa Rare Original complete Un-opened packet of (6) .44 bustible Envelope CARTRIDGES . c. 1861. They are now inert and non-working eBay please do not remove. The envelope cartridges were encased in treated paper formed tubes and dipped in collodion. This treatment similar to the Johnson & Dow Patent. XXXXXX This cartridge is shown in McKee & Mason's book Civil War Projectiles II as MM # 122 on p. 28. It is also shown in Dean S. Thomas's book, Ready Aim Fire Small Arms Ammunition in the Battle of Gettysburg. These complete packets are Rare and hard to find in any condition.
