This is a very historic and rare Civil War Patriotic Cover from the 52nd Pennsylvania Regiment. The 52nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry served throughout the four years of the Civil War. The were organized on November 5, 1861, and mustered out July 12, 1865. During that time they lost 219 officers and men. The cover has a cachet of a Union soldier guarding his camp. The cancel ties the stamp to the cover. The cancel is from WASHINGTON DC, JAN 10. The cover is sound and in excellent condition!
