You are bidding on a Civil War era photo album. It has 36 tintypes and photos. Four, that I can see, have a tax stamp on the back of the picture. Some of the people in the tintypes have tinted rosy cheeks put on their images. Some of the photographers are schellhous and dr baker and the photographers are located in Coldwater Michigan. I think the stamps mean they were taken during the Civil War--that is what I was told about the stamp.

The album is leather and has a Cathedral Gothic framing on the covers. The clasp in still in good shape, and the windows are mostly in good shape with small tears occasionally and some foxing.The word "Photographs" is in gold lettering (a bit gothic) on the end cap and the P is rubbed off a bit.

I am not an expert, only a collecter. I am selling many of my collections this month. This item is starting at a low price with no reserve. Please view my other auctions. I only accept money order, personal check. I do not accept Pay Pal yet. I don't give refunds unless I have not described the item. The item is old and very cool.

Possible soldier? Any help or advise would help:)

I am not an expert at Civil War soldiers. I wish I were because I have many, many photos from that era I am putting up for sale.

If you look at the photos, the bottom one shows a pair of children on one side and a man on the other side. The man has a vest that when magnified, looks like it has brass buttons. It has a ribbon that looks like his attempt at a watch fob, and his coat is very tattered. He has unbuttoned the vest maybe to slide a hand in for a pose. He looks like he might be a soldier, but again, I have no idea how to tell. His clothing is very different from the other people in the image.
