It is an original civil war era photo album. The album has 75+ CDV photos, and a couple of small tintypes. We were told the albums owner(Jenny Dewey Davison) was related to Admiral Dewey. Written in pencil on the inside cover-"From George". Most of the photos have the person's name underneath. The photos are of noted Civil War military leaders on both sides, Foreign leaders, political leaders, Family members, and famous people of the day. The photos have never been removed from the album pages. In order, starting from the front, the photo names are, 1-Geo. T are 2 photos on each page. The leather album is 9" wide x 6" tall. The album design is raised and embossed. It has brass strap closures.The spine needs repair. A rare opportunity to get many photos of famous people of the Civil War era still in the original photo album. No. 53. - T are 2 openings for photos on the page. Under the openings, it says Mr. & Mrs. Crook. One opening is blank, and the other opening has a photo of a Lady. It is smaller than the others, and square, and may or may not be Mrs. Crook.
