DESCRIPTION. Civil War soldier with kepi pulled high on his head stares right at the camera so the result is a startlingly sharp portrait. His cheeks are tinted red. Tâe(tm)s another tintype included, presumably of his brother. Although he wears civilian clothes I have a feeling that military experts will tell me the colored ribbons have military significance. Itâe(tm)s important to note that tâe(tm)s a tax stamp on reverse, indicating it was made during the Civil War or within a year after. SIZE. Each is a sixth plate. HOUSING. Thermoplastic union case in poor to fair condition. CONDITION. SOLDIER. No bends. Mat abrasions in same oval pattern as the mat. No surface wear. BROTHER WITH BLUE & RED RIBBONS. No bends. No surface wear. Mat abrasions. APPEARANCE. SOLDIER. Excellent tones. Very sharp so you can see individual hairs in his beard. He definitely sat still. Gold buttons. BROTHER WITH BLUE & RED RIBBONS. Good contrast. The color stands out. Gold buttons. PLEASE ADD $5.00 SHIPPING U.S. & CANADA, $10.00 INTERNATIONAL. We pay U.S. insurance if over $100. Support the shops and shows. Look up seller name 'genest' for other auctions or just click on the ME icon. Thank you.
