Description: This book Columbia Records Proudly Presents The Union (Based on Music of the South During the Years 1861-65) by Richard Bales was produced by Goddard Lieberson. Featuring the National Gallery Orchestra, Richard Bales Conductor, Cantata Choir, Lutheran Church of the Reformation Peggy Zabawa-Soprano, Jule Zabawa-Baritone and Raymond Massey as Narrator with essays by Bruce Catton, Clifford Dowdey and Allan Nevins was recorded at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. in 1958. To Read 60 pages which include the Introduction, Farewell Mother, Yankees Through Rebel Eyes, Lincoln, War Song, and War poetry and The Union plus numerous pictures courtesy of National Archives and the Library of Congress. To Hear 10 songs from a 33 1/3 long playing record which includes, 1-The American Army, 2-Tenting On The Old Campground, 3-The Battle Cry Of Freedom, 4-Aura Lea, 5-The Invalid Corps, 6-Just Before The Battle, Mother, 7-A.The Field At Gettysburg/ B.The Gettysburg Address/C.The Presidents Hymn, 8-The Vacant Chair, 9-A.Abraham Lincoln's Funeral March/B.Taps/C. The book itself is in very good condition with age discoloration to the outside jacket, the inside still has the page protectors in place and the record still plays beautifully. What a great piece of History to own for years to come and an addition to any Historical Collection.
