Your bidding on a Civil War Veterans Cane. As you can see from the top of the cane, (pictures #7), this cane belonged to W.H. Van Ness who must have fought and survived the battle of Chaplin Hills onOct. 8th 1862.or was captured on this date. This cane has much wear on the finish and is missing the silver tip, but is not broken or cracked. The cane is 33 1/2" long and the head of the cane about 3/4" diameter. The wood is light and flexible. I tried to find family without luck.
