This is the very rare Giant Clam Shell Castle, #601, a limited edition piece from the John Hopkins Enchanted Kingdom series. It was issued in 1996, as part of the Kingdom of Atlantis series. It has a limited edition #22 listed on the base. It features a small castle tucked inside a clam shell, nestled in the sand. It's 4 1/2 inches tall, and 6 1/2 inches wide. It's in the fantasy finish, and has lots of sparkle. Instead of the usual Swarovsky crystal on the highest parapet, this castle features a pearl! Please note t appears to be a chip on the right edge of the shell, about half up, near the two blue parapets of each castle. It is painted over and matches the rest of the castle, so I think that it happened when it was created. It in no way deters from the unusual and beautiful look of this castle. It is my understanding that this particular series of Hopkins/Victoria Carolina shell castles had production problems. I've never even seen the other 5 castles planned for the Kingdom of Atlantis (and I was an avid collector of all these castles, having over 90 in my collection). I believe this was one of the last castles produced by John's daughter, Victoria Carolina, before the company went out of business.
