Beautiful Vintage MARKED 14K Gold *CLARA MAASS* NURSE Pin/Brooch With a White Gold Heart set with a Yellow Citrine Gemstone - A Symbol of Nurse Maass' Great Contribution to the Cure for Yellow Fever! & "CLARA MAASS" MEDALLION WITH THE FAMOUS NURSE'S PROFILE IN NURSE'S CAP - THIS LIKENESS WAS ALSO USED ON A U.S. POSTAGE STAMP. In Excellent Vintage Condition. *** MARKED This Piece is Marked: "14K" and "cTo" on the Back of the White Gold Heart. "cTo" is the maker's mark for O.C. Tanner Co. of Salt Lake City , UT, makers of Fine Jewelry for Corporate Recognition. Gold Ring is Marked: "1/20 12K G.F." *** Measurements 1 Inch in Diameter and 1 1/4 Inches Long *** ~ Clara Louise Maass (1876-1901) was a Volunteer Nurse at the Newark German Hospital in the fight against Yellow Fever. She gave her life in experiments which eventually led to the conquest of that dreaded disease. A U.S. Postal Stamp depicting a profile of nurse Maass was issued in 1976 on the 100th anniversary of her birth. ~ ~ This Piece may be a Volunteer/Nursing Service Pin or somehow affiliated with CLARA MAASS HOSPITAL in Belleville, NJ. I am not sure w this Service Pin was issued. ~ *** Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. T are no nicks, dings, or major wear. T are some light scratches to the 12KGF Circle Pin, but this is minor. The 14K Gold Heart and Clara Maass Emblem are in Perfect Condition. The gemstone is tight in its setting. Please note this item is pre-owned and authentic signed vintage.
