Clare Leighton's wood engraved designed plate depicts "Sugaring" . This plate is part of the series of the 12 "New England Industries" series commissioned by Wedgewood in 1948. This plate is in very good condition with a slight utensil mark on the upper sleeve of the man pouring the maple syrup into the keg, as you may be able to see on the close-up. Clare Leighton's designs are a fine tribute to the labor of those who worked the fields and waters of New England. These plates are beautiful, unusual, and very collectible.
