On offer is a large 8 inch C.C. Spring Crocus water jug in need of large restoration. I originally bought this thinking just the base needed some attention, but like the previous owner, the more i cleaned it off (flaking paint etc) the more damage I found. This wasn't mis-sold as it was for restoration, but when all was revealed it was clear to me this is far too much and too soon for me to even start it. Well here goes, its condition starting top edge (pic 1 and 3) it has a chip which has previously been filled, off which is 5 inch hairline and finishes right between bridge of the handle. Next is the base, this clearly has been badly broken, there is reglued cracks, filled areas (milliput) and some remains of overpaint. Ideally all this really needs stripping back and restarting. Possibly the main fault of the original restoration was bad finishing (paint or glaze) plus the difficulty of the damage would not have helped. Well there it is, maybe this piece is past it, maybe someone who knows somebody who can sort it properly. I don't think I've left anything out so please bear in mind the above if you do bid, there's alot of work (hard work) required here.
