We are very pleased to offer this excellent Victorian oil painting. According to information provided by Christie's London, the painting is by listed 19th century British artist Samuel Joseph Clark and is titled "Watering the Team". It is faintly signed S.J. Clark in the lower left. This is a very large work and is in very fine condition. It is framed in a stunning, ornate Victorian gilt frame and is ready to hang and enjoy. Copy of Christie's Invoice available upon request. CONDITION NOTES: The painting is in very good near original condition with no rips tears or other damage and is unlined. The frame, which is a very high quality Victorian frame, is the original and is in good condition and has had some repair and restoration to the frame. SAMUEL JOSEPH CLARK: (1834 to c. 1912). this British artist is best known for his lovely paintings of horses, animals and farmyard scenes. His works have appeared frequently at auction sales including major London auction venues (Christie's) as well as provincial auctions. The top recorded auction price (equivalent to "wholesale") of $8,706.00 was recorded on 9 July, 2000 at Christie's, London. Retail gallery prices for works by Clark can be as high as $20,000.00 for large and well framed works such as the one we are offering here. HIGH RESOLUTION PHOTOS AVAILABLE BY REQUEST.
