Up for sale is an o riginal Prewar Elgin Bicycle, the TwinBar model 40, sold by the Sears Department stores from 1938-1942. It’s not too often you see these bikes in complete condition; with the i ncredible dual headlight head shroud, and the unique tear drop bottom bracket pod. This Bicycle was the cutting edge at its time, with a design that boasted the similarities of a suspension bridge (note: the frame that has no seat tube!) Definitely one of the coolest Prewar Bicycles. This bike is solid with no welds, no breaks, or no cracks! Sports its original paint, not perfect but original patina, typical scratches and wear. The pinstripes were a labor of love accented by the original owner (not factory). It also sports the Elgin front and rear f inned air cooled Hubs , the Morrow rear sprocket, and the Elgin rear Brake. Plus it has the original raised ridge gothic fenders . The wheels and the tires are also original; ALLSTATE white walls. Has the correct original saddle, the correct stem, handlebar, and (repro) handgrips. Things that will need your attention; the horn button is missing, the head shroud had a small undetectable break (looks like it was repaired). The chain guard is not original (front bracket needs to be attached, I will supply an original one), the top of the rack needs some gentle massaging...and that’s it! I’ read more
