Tasaburo Takahashi- Takahashi was a native of Kyoto and was fascinated with the Kyoto art scene at an early age. He was a student at the Kyoto Technical School of Painting and excelled in his painting skills. However, it was woodblock print making that most intrigued him. He was a member of the group that started the Koryokusha publishing company as a woodblock print publisher for member's designs. He is most well known for his beautiful shin-hanga Noh and landscape subjects.

The Noh Prints - Takahashi was most well known for his Noh prints designed in conjunction with Tokuriki. His beautiful, formal designs are perfectly suited to the ancient Noh tradition. Takahashi's Noh designs featured various characters from the Noh in full costume in a scene from a play. The costumes are beautifully depicted, the backgrounds are all treated with a heavy, lavish mica powder that beautifully frames the figure and gives the print a luxurious feeling. These Noh prints are rare, and distinctly Japanese, they are a great opportunity to use a beautiful display or as an addition to a collection.
