Classic Vintage THORENS TD 166 Mk II Turntable in Excellent Conditon . . . With Thorens Tonearm Wand and used Shure M75 6s Audiophile Cartridge (not on the picture but comes with it) This is a Stellar Sounding Vintage Turntable and one of my all time favorites. It sounds just like a new one, serious! Heavy 5 lb. platter spins true and at 33-1/3 and 45 rpm, and rides smoothly on a heavy-duty 10 mm shaft and bearing that has been recently cleaned and lubricated Motor is smooth and accurate Drive belt is new and supple COMES WITH AN EXTRA BRAND NEW BELT (see pix) Rubber feet on the bottom of the plinth have been very recently replaced Incredibly engineered 3-Point suspension system to isolate the turntable from external vibration Comes also with the alignment template (see pix) Comes with mirrors to adjust and tune the Tonearm Comes with adapter to paly 45 records Pre-owned in super condition: Thorens TD 166 MkII Turntable The TD-166 Mk2 is a manual turntable, and the only controls are the 33/Off/45 selector switch and Tonearm Up/Down Cueing Control. Thorens uses a simple belt-drive system to further isolate the turntable platter from the motor and the belt is new and supple. This TD-166 MK II does not comes with the plastic dust cover. The dustcover hinges are in perfect shape. You can download the original Thorens Service Manual from vinylengine dot com. The servie manuel si not included in the auction, you will have to download it. I don't have the original box. The metal plinth and metal top of the turntable are in very good shape with just a few minor scratches and rub marks and t that that probably won't even show up in the pictures provided. The 4 rubber feet on the bottom of the plinth have been very recently replaced. I've owned several models of Thorens turntables and this tonearm/wand/cartridge combination is one of the best sounding I've found. The tonearm wand with cartridge safely in place separates easily from the tonearm for safe shipping and is easily re-attached in the proper position as it has a guide pin and attached nut that requires just a turn or two to gently fasten it back to the tonearm base. The tonearm has a single counterweight on the back end that you turn clockwise or counterclockwise to add or subtract pressure on the stylus tip. A stylus is pulled to the center due to centrifugal force when the LP is rotating. Thorens has engineered one of the simplest and most effective anti-skate control systems consisting of just a simple .6 gram weight suspended from 2 grooved rods on the back of the tonearm.
