Mr. Meaders was born May 12, 1921, in White County. Died April 1st 2003 . He was a son of James Meaders Sr. and Lilly Glover Meaders.Cousin to Lanier,Edwin,John and Reggie Meaders.
Mr. Meaders retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1979. He served in the U.S. Air Force with the Flying Tigers from 1943 to 1946, and in the Korean Conflict in 1951. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Asbury Sunday School Class and a member of the Masonic Order for over 50 years.
A nationally known potter, Mr. Meaders served as a Smithsonian Museum representative for the Georgia Folk Arts Display at the 1996 US Olympics in Atlanta. His art works are on display at the Smithsonian Museum of Arts and Science, the University of Georgia Museum and the Atlanta History Center. A number of books have been published featuring Mr. Meadersâe(tm) art. For 20 years, Mr. Meaders demonstrated his craft at the Mossy Creek Festival in Houston County

Cleater along with his wife Billie created some outstanding examples of southern folk pottery . He was a master of the tobacco spit or Shanghai glazes used by generations of Meaders potters. This pig is a fine example of his wood fired pottery figures that he made along with face jugs and pitchers and churns often with decorations by Billie. I believe this pig is rare as i have not often seen them up for sale. It is original mint condition with no chips cracks or repairs. Measures 8 inches from snoot to tail and 5 inches high. A fine addition to any collection of southern pottery.
