, in a black transfer, is a gorgeous historical Staffordshire platter by Ralph and James Clews from their "Pictureseque Views" series of scenes mostly of the Hudson River area. The series has a common exotic bird border and some 30 different views, mostly based on Wall's sketches and drawings in his Hudson River Port Folio. This view, titled in a landscape transfer on the reverse edge, is of the then Village of Hudson, NY, on the Hudson River. The back is also combed and bears the impressed Clews circular crown mark. T is slight table ring scuff wear on the reverse, and expected crazing for the age of the piece (1830), but this 12.5 by 10 inch platter is otherwise in virtually MINT condition......no chips, hairlines, cracks or repairs.
