6TH VAN CLIBURN PIANO COMPETITION WINNER –
RTI Pressing –
½ Speed
This recording was captured “live” in Ed Landreth Auditorium at Texas Christian University, during the Sixth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at Fort Worth, Texas, May 17-31, 1981.
It features Gold Medallist Andre-Michel Schub as he delivers Brahms VARIATIONS AND FUGUE ON A THEME BY HANDEL, Debussy RELIEFS DANS L’EAU, Mendelssohn FANTASIA IN F SHARP MINOR, and Liszt PAGANINI ETUDES No. 2 IN E-FLAT and No. 6 IN A MINOR.
The sessions were ½ speed mastered by Stan Ricker, then plated and pressed by Doug Sax at RTI.
Cover of this gem is without major fault; private platter within will play near mint.
Very rare indeed.
For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.
Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $15 via airmail for the first LP, $3 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
