The Clifton Indianware line was modeled after ancient Hopi and surrounding Indian tribe pottery, using the polychrome style.
The interior of the pot is glazed a glossy dark brownish black shade. The exterior Indian designs in black against the red clay background is striking and nicely suited to the pleasing shape.
The vase I am offfering is in very nice condition. T is typical surface wear from years of being handled and cleaned. T are some minor scuffs and some black rub on the base ring. I have taken many photos of the exterior surface to show condition. Please email us if you have any other questions.
T are NO chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. I see no visible crazing under magnification.
Dimensions of the piece are 5 1/4" T x 8" W. The rim is 2 1/2" in diameter.
This is a beautiful example of the influence the west had on the original potter, William Long, before he traveled east from Denver and opened the Clifton Pottery in Newark, NJ.
