This is a scarce art deco bakelite electric shelf clock " Remind-O-Timer " made for scheduling a series of alarm bells, used by liveries, hotels, railroads, and schools according to research on this item. As you can see in the last photo, the clock face is framed by a metal piece with a number of moon-shaped cutouts at 15 minute intervals. Each of these cutouts is further marked in 5 minute intervals, with small metal pegs ( that you can see from the top, 5th photo ) . These pegs can be moved along the cutout to the time you want the alarm to sound. Circa 1920s or 30s I believe, it measures 8.25 inches high by not quite 8 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep. The case is brown bakelite, an early plastic. The face of the clock is white-painted; as the close-ups show, the paint is peeling in small places. The numbers are in gold with black outlining. Printed on the face is " James Remin-O-Timer, James Manufacturing CO., 5307 E. 14th Street, Oakland 1, California, Made in U.S.A. " T is a red second hand. It has a domed glass cover. The back is metal with a winding mechanism. A small plate is screwed onto the back that says, " Important: Do not turn hands backward--operates only on 110-125 volts--60 cycle AC, Consumption 4 watts, Model K, James Manufacturing Co.
