Joseph Leyendecker was born in Germany on March 13, 1894 migrated with his family to Chicago at the age of 8. Over the next approximately five decades, until his death at the age of 77. Leyendecker created 522 Covers for The Saturday Evening Post and was rivaled only by his contemporary NORMAN ROCKWELL .
