H&Co. ENGLAND 7-PIECE HANDPAINTED GAME BIRD SET You are bidding on an excellent H&Co. England game bird set consisting of a large platter 17-3/4" by 14" and six 8-7/8" serving plates. These pieces are handpainted, each with a different game bird. The platter's image is identified on the back as a wood cock, but I do not know the species of the other birds. They have a dark maroon scalloped rim overlaid with fine gilt filigree and white enamel dots, centering the handpainted bird images. The platter has a few scratches in the center and one of the plates has crazing to the glaze. There are no chips, cracks or restorations to the porcelain. It's a wonderful set, marked on the reverse, H&Co. England and Burley & Co. Chicago (retailer) with a handlettered numbers 4939 on some of the plates.
