Here is a killer Woodland 2 1/2" Dickson knife blade found in Jefferson Co., Missouri. This blade was part of the collection from Terry Allen. The material is a well patinated, glossy, creamy white colored Burlington chert material. This is a medium-sized Dickson knife. The cutting edges are convex with both cutting edges showing ancient use wear. The tip point is still functional and shows ancient use wear. The shoulders expand with both tapering upwards over the stem. The long stem contracts and both basal corners show ancient use wear. (see pic 1) The basal edge is slightly concave. The side view (pic 4) shows this is a sturdy, thick knife blade with thinning near the tip and base areas. This blade is 1 7/16" wide. A Dickson point can be estimated to be from 2,500-1,600 yrs. old. This indian artifact is graded a 7.0 and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, dated 12/13/11 , from Butler Authentication Services . The COA # B-2805 can be viewed in the second picture. These fully laminated, water proof and durable COA's are 8.5 inch by 11 inch. Perfect for framing!!!This Dickson knife is a Woodland artifact. It is estimated to be 2,500 to 1,600 years old.
