Model shown above This is a Plastic kit New in the Box. For over a century, Coal was a fixture of American Railroads. This is an overhead Traveling Gantry for servicing two tracks. Whether handling coal, limestone, coke or ore this crane is right at home at any steel mill, aggregate plant or smelting plant to handle the many bulk commodities these facilities use. The Gantry Crane featues Gantry legs to straddle one set of tracks and rides on a pair of included Gantry Rails to move back and forth along the included Coal Bunker. The Four Overhead Loading hoppers have a pair of twin unloading hoppers over each set of tracks. The Overhead Hopper bins are stationary and straddle Two railroad Tracks. Two unloading chutes for each set of tracks are designed to serve one track each. The Four pack of hoppers sits alongside the Gantry and over a pair of tracks. The Clamshell bucket crane is mounted on top of the Traveling Gantry Crane to allow it to reach the bunker along side the track to load the Gantry hopper. The Quad pack of hoppers have their own access stairs and are surronded by a walkway and safety railings. The Gantry has a center stairs to access the elevated hopper and crane. The top of the gantry is surrounded by a set of safety railings. This is a massive Gantry and a truely unique item to add to your layout. This kit has 198 parts molded in 4 colors. Measures: 13-1/4 x 10 -3/4" and 9 -1/2" Tall 34 x 27.4cm x 24.5 cm Tall Model Footprint shown above Coal was the life-blood of many industries for most of the century and a ready supply was always on hand. To reach the coal stockpile and fill the elevated loading hopper special cranes were used with clamshell buckets were used. These made quick work of unloading using a large clamshell bucket to handle the coal nearby. This impressive kit has a truely unique design. With its superbly detailed steel truss work, operators cab, clamshell bucket, trolley and more, it will be a focal point of any scene. On the waterfront, it makes a great stand-alone coal dock, and its a natural at a steel works handling iron ore, coal, and stone.
