THANKS FOR VISITING! PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION, AS IT IS QUITE DETAILED! DESCRIPTION : Up for auction is this lovely cobalt blue guilloche enamel compact from my personal collection. It is probably from the 1920s/30s and it is marked "Sterling Silver" in the middle on the inside of the base where the powder goes (see pics 6 & 7). Also marked inside the base near the hinge is the number "112" and below that is "935", as well as other markings which are so small I cannot make them out. If you enlarge pic 6 you may be able to make out some of these markings. I've seen some compacts which look very similar to this that are marked "Austria" but I do not see it marked on this one. The compact is very slim and it measures 2 3/8" in diameter. This compact is really pretty and is in good vintage condition, but it does have some minor issues: There is a very small chip in the enamel on the edge of the lid on the left side about midway down - if it were a clock it would be in the 9 o'clock position. (See pic 8) There is also a very small chip in the enamel underneath on the edge of the base at about the 2 o'clock position on a clock. (See pic 9)There are some very minor scratches on the top. The bottom of the compact, however, has scratches which are a bit more significant and obvious, which is not uncommon with these types of compacts, read more
