Vintage Coca-Cola V-39 Soda Machine

's the ever-popular 5-Cent Coca-Cola Vendo V-39 Soda Machine. The Vendo 39 is clearly one of the most recognizable machines from the 50's era. Its familiar round corners and small gray door adorned the front of many gas stations and diners! Production began in 1949 and continued through the mid fifties. Will hold 39 bottles and Pre-Cools 20 bottles.

This is an earlier version of the V-39 being that it is solid red and has the "Ice Cold" embossed across the bottom of the front door. The "Coca-Cola" logo at the top is also embossed. The size is 58" high, 27" wide and 16" deep. Weight is only around 286 lbs.

The unit does power up, I had it running for over 20 minutes, the round can inside got very cold. The coin unit is in place, but needs some cleaning and lubrication. The drum is in place but needs some repair work also. The basket release wire and assembly is all t that I can tell. All the embossing on the door, "Drink Coca-Cola In Bottles" and "Ice Cold" are undamaged, including the line. The small bottle door has no damage, spring is firm and closes perfectly. Side vent fins are good on both sides of machine, no damage. The coin door is in nice shape, hinge is undamaged and swings open easy. It does need a new lock, but the latch bar assembly is fully intact. It does have the original bottle cap opener and cap catcher. The coin box is missing, but can be purchased for $22.00 through restoration dealers like . They carry a large stock of old parts for the V-39 as well as for other machines too. T is rust on the bottom inside, but I did not see any holes. The very bottom of the outside sides has some rust, but nothing major. Also has the rear wheels and handle on the back for easy moving around. T are dents on the right outside and three small holes on the left side, but these issues could easily be repaired if restored.

I am also including in this auction, a photo copy of the original factory V-39 Service & Parts Manual from the Vendo factory. This manual is extensive and contains parts list & diagrams, maintenance, refrigeration servicing, installation & loading instructions, coin unit operation and maintenance. It also has a section on restoring with info for paint numbers and parts dealers. T are a total of 148 pages of great information contained in the manual. This is a great book if you wish to restore this machine. I'm told that a V-39 in restored condition sells for around $4,500 to $5,800! 's your chance to buy one and restore it for for much, much less. I once saw a restored one of these in a game room, very impressive to say the least!

Over all, this is a very solid machine. What a great find and hard to come by! My father had this cooler in his collection for some time and planed to restore it, but he never found the time before his passing. I have tried to describe this unit as best I can. However, I don't know a whole lot about these items, so please ask questions. What you see in the pictures is what you will receive.
