This is a beautiful coin silver case containing an Elgin watch. It is from an estate of a man that worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and died in 1970 when he was 99 years old. This watch case is marked "coin" on one cover and the numbers 2 6 3 below and is 2-1/2" in diameter and 3/4" in depth. The dust cover over the works is also marked with the 2 6 3 numbers. The face cover is marked with DFC&;CO and is tooled very nicely. The 2" diameter porcelain face is cracked at the upper left section between the 10 and 12 position and is barely noticeable. The numbers are roman numerals and marked "Elgin Natl Watch Co. and it has a second hand. The works are marked with "Elgin Natl. Watch Co., Elgin, Ill. and the serial number is 4205298. The watch runs very well and keeps good time. The chain 12" long and the two keys are kept on a leather strap. The chain has no markings at all on it. The design is done in a bright cut. This watch dates from the 1890's.
