Up for your consideration today is another treasure from Peggy's personal Elvis collection!! As you can see by the photographs, I have up for your consideration a letter which Peggy received from Col. Tom Parker's office dated July of 1965 regarding Elvis Presley's activities while filming a movie in Hawaii. Peggy wrote to the Colonel many times during her years of fascination with the King. Peggy received many holiday greetings from Elvis and the Colonel including numerous Christmas cards and others. This letter, which is dated July 30, 1965, obviously came from Col. Parker's office. The stationery bears the familiar large covered wagon logo of Col. Parker's management agency. It also bears below the message an inked rubber stamped signature from "Colonel Parker's Office". The letter was mailed to Peggy at her home at the time in Columbia, MO. It is extremely rare among Elvis collectibles. The envelope in which this letter arrived bears the familiar return address logo of the Colonel, P.O. Box 417, Madison, Tenn. It also has postmark from Madison, TN dated July 30, 1965 along with a cancelled five cent postage stamp. On the back of the envelope is stamped "ELVIS ELVIS ELVIS in T I C K L E M E An Allied Artists Picture". As you can see by the photograph the stamp was placed on a piece of brown packaging tape with was used to seal the envelope. Such rubber stamped advertisements were very common on the reverse of promotional items mailed from the Colonel's office during that time. I have several other examples which will be up for auction soon. Due to the rarity and value of this item, I prefer to ship it to the winning bidder via USPS Registered or Certified Mail and insured for the full value of the purchase price. Should one of the King's many fans from overseas win the bid, then the letter will be shipped in a similar fashion with registration being required along with a $10.00 handling fee. In any event, payment is due within five (5) days of the end of the auction.
