This gorgeous lamp, from my research, was made by J.B Cole of North Carolina, c. 1930-40. This is a hand thrown piece with applied handles. It has the most stunning glaze in Greens varying to hues of deep blue greens and turquoise. It is in excellent condition and does work fine, however I would suggest in time having the cord replaced as it is getting stiff. It has no chips, cracks or hairlines. The pottery body alone measures a foot tall and 8.5 inches across from handle to handle. With the lamp base, cap and harp, with the original finial (metal) it measures 27 inches tall. I took the lamp apart to allow you to see the pottery base. It has the factory center hole for the lamp works and a side hole drilled out for reasons unknown (not sure if factory or not), perhaps attempting to use the piece as a lamp without a base plate. It has no damage around that second drilled whole, and it is all invisible when it is placed back on the metal base plate. This is a really lovely piece, right at home in any Arts & Crafts environment. I am relisting this lamp at a VERY reasonable starting bid and no reserve, the winning bidder will NOT be disappointed.
I need to part with personal treasures I didn't think I'd ever give up in order to pay off my farm veterinarian. One of my beloved horses became very ill. My vet and I tried everything humanly possible to get him well. Ultimately he didn't make it, but the bill still must be paid! R.I.P. Satchmo! :-( Thank you for looking! I prefer PayPal payments but will accept money orders as a secondary means of payment. Buyers outside the continental US will have higher shipping costs, as they apply. Those costs will be disclosed at closing of auction. I pack all breakables extremely well which adds to the weight of the item, however it ensures you get exactly what you have paid for, intact and ready to enjoy. I only ship once mid-week, either Tues, wed, or Thurs, as I commute to work out of state, so please factor that in when anticipating your items arrival.
