COLEMAN GAS IRON MODEL # 5 The Coleman Instant Lite Model 5 iron was made by the Coleman Lamp & Stove Co. between the years of 1930 and 1948. The Coleman Lamp & Stove Co. has since changed their name to Coleman Co. Inc. Coleman no longer makes irons, but instead focuses their manufacturing on camping related items. This iron was produced with a bright green base and handle; this made it look different than other iron models. The tank on the back held Coleman gasoline which fueled the iron. There was an adjustment valve on the back to adjust the temperature of the iron. Near the rear on the right-hand side there is a small notch cut out. This was where you would insert a match to light the flame. All of the knobs, etc... move freely. I have not tested it to see if works. ***TOP OF SMALL SCREW PIECE IS BENT** (may need fixed or replaced.) Wording on the handle reads: "The Coleman Company, Inc., Wichita, Kansas Made in United States of America" The signs of use and wear adds to the character and charm of this great piece. Makes a great piece to add to a collection or your early American decor.
