This auction is for a rare antique Coal Miners Cap. This mining hat is in VERY GOOD condition. T are NO HOLES AND NO RIPS. This type of cloth miner's cap was used in the late 1800's to the early 1900's. This is a LOUIS SCHERZ PATENT LAMP HOLDER. T is a metal bracket riveted to the cap, and on the bracket is a piece of leather, and printed in the leather is "SAFETY" "PATENTED NO. 1,563,931". T is a small tag that you can see in the photos, that is sewn between the hat and visor on the left side. This cap also holds an early carbide hook-on lamp that I just finished listing on Ebay, or a gas hose which a mining lantern is attached. This collectible mining
