Up for auction is this most interesting grouping of antique textile fragments! The collection consists of 8 different pieces as follows; A neckline cut from a what must have been a heavily embroidered garment, perhaps of Asian vintage? the neckline was embellished with metallic heavy threads woven into bunches of grapes with a braided border of sorts, fabric appears to be silk? with the weight of an upholstery fabric, with golden metallic threads woven throughout, it has a handsewn lining still attached as seen in photos. Next there is a beautifully hand done 19" and 3.5 " smaller section of intricately embroidered trim. It measures 1 3/4" wide, and is done with silk? threads in vivid reds and turquoise flowers, upon a golden and silver metallic background, with brown silk? leaves and petals, a simply gorgeous example of exquisite artistry with a needle! A 26" length of a border from a Paisley shawl from the 19th century, Paisley Scotland. A 9.5" section of very finely woven trim, a soft peach color with silver metallic threads woven into an ancient looking repeating pattern, small repeating dots of green silk detail. A 4.5"x 3" example of petit point counted threadwork in a floral arrangement, faded from age, on a very fine gauzy net background.
