Offered is a collection of 6 different UK Ordovician trilobites, 5 of which are complete specimens and one is almost complete. At top left is a complete specimen of the rare and localised Cryptolitid trinucleid Whittardolithus intertextus , which is confined to transition beds between the Aberreidian and Llandelian Stages of the Llanvirn Series in Shropshire. Clockwise from Whittardolithus are: Degamella gladiata ; a complete but unprepared specimen, from the Arenig Series of Mathry, Dyfed, South Wales. On rare occasions, these cyclopygids have the optic surfaces intact..............the successful bidder may be lucky with this one, as the cephalon is largely covered in matrix............ A near complete Seleneceme acuticauda follows, from the Lower Llanvirn, Hope Shales of Minsterley, Shropshire. This is a very uncommon and localised deep- water Alsataspid trilobite which lacked eyes.Next is a good sized, prone Gravicalymene arcuata , from the Ashgill Series of Corwen, North Wales, and a small, but complete Calyptaulax norvegicus , preserved in blue-black phosphate. Finally, at centre, is a small but good example of the uncommon raphiophorid species Ampyx cetsarum from the Arenig Series; Moridunian Stage of Glan Pibwr, Carmarthenshire. The anterior spine is intact in this example. No reserve.............great opportunity for the advanced collector to obtain some rare UK items.
