I am pleased to offer a MINT condition Yomud Turkoman Chuval, West Turkestan, from the last quarter of the 19th century. This piece has a stunningly beautiful design with a 9 chuval guls offset with chemche minor guls and a "flower-head" elem panel. The field has nice spacing indicative of earlier Turkoman pieces woven for personal use and not trade.The backing on this one has been removed. It has a fine weave using very high quality wool that is silky soft to the touch and comes in pristine, A+ condition with full pile. It has no rips, holes, tears, moth damage, color run, repairs, low pile areas, is very clean, and collection ready. This remarkable Chuval has beautiful saturated colors from 100% vegetable dyes including a lovely indigo, aubergine, terra-cotta, and an apricot, that just glow in the hand. This would be an excellent addition to any Turkoman textile collection and would make a lovely wall hanging. A truly beautiful piece of art and Turkmen tribal history. I have assigned a fair reserve for an item of this quality and condition. Being much more than a 100 years old, this example is as good as you will find on the world markets.
