A nice unusual Collins Machete / Sword as used in Cuba and the Philippines during the Spanish American War . Bought this years ago, just time to thin some things out. A Collins No. 87 Officers Sword, with a 27" blade, marked Collins & Co., over Hartford, over Cast Steel, over Warranted, as it should be. See page 105 and 106 of the Collins book by Dan Henry. The blade is stained, (blood?), but no rust, the edge is excellent, a few very minor knicks. The handle is unusual and I can not find an exact match, it looks very professionally done, but may not be original. Complete with a No.16 style leather scabbard, that has shrunk some, and the point of the machete has poked through the bottom, not bad, and the drag is somewhat loose. A great blade that has a lot of Spanish American War history and flavor. Now for the official stuff. Please see the pictures, ask questions before you bid, or if you want more pictures or information please just ask, will be glad to email. I don't send items out on approval or for further negotiating (You wouldn't believe). Please contact me within 3 days of the end of auction to firm up payment and shipping details. Prefer Certified Funds or USPS M.O. on these, but will also accept Paypal. For those who use send a personal check, I will hold until "my bank" says it is paid and I pull out the funds, usually about 3 to 5 day delay, others ship right away. I will ship USPS when ever possible. I pride myself on my packing, see my feedback. I pack as if it were coming to me. I try to ship on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as long as work doesn't get in the way. Figure $15.00 priority shipping, insurance and signature delivery receipt to the lower 48 only, others ask for quote or if you want some special handling. Please don't wait until the last minute to ask questions, I work shift work and weekends, am called out of town on occasion, and may not be monitoring the auctions on the day they close. See my other auctions for some other great items. Good Luck and happy collecting!! Have had a couple questions on this one, and I see why, the blade edge is perfectly streight. What you are seeing in the pictures is shadow from the cloth I use as background for the picture. Sorry, for the poor picture quality. Added a couple more for you.
