COLONY OKLAHOMA METEORITE THIN SECTION A rare CO3.0 with a low total known weight. Only four of this type known at this time! This is an interesting CO3.0; an extremely rare classification. Interesting chondrules, and CAI's against a dark carbonaceous matrix 3,900 grams of this rare meteorite was recovered in a single mass. This thin section made by Mr. Schoner is 27mm x 46mm, cover slipped and expertly made. He has graded this hand made slide at A+. Under cross polarization and with a first order red filter, this slide, like most that he makes, is spectacular. Usually because the matrix is so dark with carbonaceous meteorites, Steve will grind these down to 25 to 29 microns to bring out extra detail. But with this one he chose to stick to 30 microns. It is a amazing slide with very colorful chondrules against a very dark background. Not much of this meteorite is available on the market and Steve will make two more and that will be the end of slides for this extremely rare meteorite. Satisfaction assured, you will not be disappointed with this A+ slide. Information from the Meteorite Bulletin: Colony, Oklahoma Abbreviation: There is no official abbreviation for this meteorite.
