An excellent condition Royal Blue Match Striker with Bubbles. The Sterling Silver Rim is hall marked Birmingham 1929 and Mappin & Webb. There is a striking patch on the side. Traditionally used to house friction matches in the well, the match striker is a decorative lighting devise when the matches were struck against the glass threads on the exterior. Today the glass strikers are sought after as decorative accessories - with the colored versions being most desirable - especially when they have unusual colors and bubbles. Last photo is a selection of 10 colored strikers we have in our collection. Selection subject to previous sale.
