Colt firearms company. Here we have an eyecup / eyebath. This eye cup is white plastic affixed to a black plastic base. The plastic cover is yellow. When enclosed in a cover the eye bath is considered a travelers cup. Although difficult to see, I tried to picture the embossing. On one edge it reads "pat. pending" and on the other end it reads "OLT inside the bigger letter C , spelling COLT and 20A" The 20A refers to a production number. The piece WAS made by the Colt Firearms Plastic division in 1941. I believe they wanted them to be given to soldiers in WWII. A lot of gun powder and dust debris was experienced in shoot outs, particularly in fox holes. But the plastic cups simply cracked too easily. It was actually replaced by a glass eye cup (told to me by an eyecup collector in 1975 who was also a WWII veteran). The glass eye cup mold rendered a thicker than usual glass. This hard to find COLT plastic eye cup is sought after by both eye bath collectors and COLT collectors. Please e-mail me if you have any questions before bidding and good luck !
