Columbia 5/8" Side Bead Wood Molding Plane This is probably the cleanest and least-used Columbia plane we've seen. Basically, it has no marks on it. In the 1920s, United Hardware & Tool Corp., of New York City, imported planes from Germany and sold them under the Columbia name. The planes were made of Russian white beech, and came with no finish on them. Also, Columbia ink-stamped their logo on the left side of the plane instead of using the more common imprint stamp. Thsi plane has an American style wedge - we've seen some of this brand with German wedges, as well. It is in almost unused condition. The spot on the left side of the wedge is residual from someone's sticker. T are cracks in the boxing behind the throat, but it is smooth and tight.
